Well, DUH! I know how newspaper astrology works (hint: it does not involve actually predicting the future) If you do something, it affects the future, either one second from now or 70 years from now. Everybody knows that, and it's true no matter who you are or when you're born.
The campus center is deserted because the computers weren't working earlier, and you know the only reason people stay here after classes on a Friday is to get fast internet access and play Magic: The Gathering.
