Cambodian Psychadelia - A Musical Entry
Mar. 25th, 2006 03:02 pmMy love affair with Southeast Asian music continues.

The entire album is up on their site for free listening. It streams, though. But I spent the entire morning ripping the audio. I'll send it to Moon on AIM when I can. For now, just enjoy the site.
It's very interesting. Sleepwalking Through The Mekong is an acoustic song. One Thousand Tears Of A Tarantula details the last hours of someone who was murdered by the Khmer Rouge (you know you suck when Playfair of ODF fame justifies your actions), says their Myspace. Saran Wrap sounds like the Southeast Asian version of A Wolf At The Door by Radiohead.
I also have a song they have on the Broken Flowers soundtrack. Never heard of it? I'm not surprised. Go check the Music Exposure Thread and get it. The Dengue Fever song is like a mixture of American, Cambodian, and Ethiopian music. The myspace page also has a song, which reminds me of Unnatural Habitat from Broken Flowers or Skeleton Key by Days of the New, on acid and mixed with Chronopolis and wailing Khmer vocals.
I'll also have to check out the soundtrack to City of Ghosts. It was on TV once and I could tell it was in Cambodia just by listening to the music.
