I just wanted to use the title before November began. I'm reading that now along with Dreadnought, since I think it's a bit late for I Remember Pallahaxi or Engine Summer or any other springtime/summertime reading. It's also a reference to a poem by Edgar Allan Poe. In fact, if it wasn't for the title, I'd probably not update this until November (one of those 30 days of NaNoWriMo things is there and I'm doing it this time!), which wouldn't make any sense to use. My next point will likely still stand.

Pat Buchanan's latest racist screed has 4.5 stars on Amazon and even the one negative review agrees with the points within, and that's why I don't trust Amazon reviews. At least I'm pleasantly surprised that A Night In The Lonesome October isn't rated lower. It's higher rating than Reamde by Neil Stephenson. I don't know if that's acceptable or not. I haven't read Reamde. I don't know what it's about. But every time I see the title I read it as Remade and then the realization that this is not a China Mieville novel hits and gets me down.

I'm curious about this:
There's a woman giving a speech sampled in a 6LA8 song and it has lines like "Iraq is not a video game" and I wonder who she is. I looked up the line and couldn't find anything on it, and if it wasn't for the fact that she mentions things like Operation Wetback and some of what I assume is Spanish or Portuguese, I'd think she was a Pakistani figure, but no. I wonder if it's instead stifled or otherwise not well-known. I don't get it.

Gallop is bullying Penelope now. How odd. Though Penelope started it when she stole some of Gallop's food. Penelope also fears shovels.

a spooky picture for lonesome Octobers.
Maybe lonesome May if you live in Ushuaia (do you?)
The leg looks kind of phallic, I think.

burning question: what songs define autumn for you?
