footfalls of the past
May. 11th, 2016 06:46 pmThe composer William Basinski once tried to salvage some earlier recordings but couldn't, so he just recorded the tapes as they decayed away into nothingness.

He's going to grow up to be an asshole but aww. He's living with the six ducklings right now and they're getting along.
When I arrived, a gecko got her stuck egg removed.
Extreme Stop & Shop, he called it.
I went to feed the robin and he flew into my face and landed on the floor. I went to feed the blue jay, Jacob said "oh, he's not going to be doing any flying because his wing is messed up" and he flew into my face and landed on the windowsill. "Seems like he's doing better." They should be grateful because I made super-awesome food for them; dog food, mealworms, earthworms, papaya, red bell pepper, grape, pear, cucumber.
Robins and blue jays get the same exact thing.

Tiffany was talking about someone she knows who has never heard of Columbine. A while ago, I realized that all of the internet's initial reactions and their misinformation to Columbine are forever lost to the aether. Jedi Council doesn't go that far back. ILX doesn't go that far back. Gamefaqs doesn't archive its forums as far as I know and when Columbine happened, there wasn't a Gamefaqs anyway. Some asshole put a robots.txt on Barbelith. Let it be said that there is a special place in hell for people who buy a domain name and don't do anything but block the previous site from the internet archive, where they eat naught but burning hot coals and drink naught but burning hot cola, and also they're forced to play the DOS versions of Mega Man and maybe Bart vs. The Space Mutants and The War in Heaven.
I didn't keep any sort of journal at the time. I might have saved some films from Myth II around that time but they were on a zip disk. They wouldn't specifically be about Columbine but I dunno, maybe someone mentioned it. Remember how I brought up a friend who gave me some really terrible relationship advice? I remember him saying that he always wore a trenchcoat to school because Rick Blaine and Inspector Closseau can't both be wrong, or maybe it's because he was obsessed with The Matrix, and he said he doesn't care if people discriminate against him because everyone who knows him knows how non-violent he is. Also, they know not to go to him if they ever need relationship advice. If you don't remember Columbine, you probably don't know what a zip disk is. Anyway, since the heads actually touch the media, they're really prone to fucking up and corrupting the data and if you were really unlucky, you could corrupt a disk in one drive and then damage another drive with that corrupted disk. The world moved on to CD-R soon after.
I think he was born in the mid nineties so that actually makes sense. He'd be too young to remember the news or the sea change that came with it, and it's been eclipsed by Virginia Tech and Newtown and their disinformation campaigns. If I remember correctly, Cassie Bernal's story was a chain e-mail that got out of hand, as chain e-mails are wont to do.
I started high school in 1999 and I wanted to see if the student handbook mentioned anything about shootings but I can't find it. I still have the padlock for my locker, though.

burning question: so, regarding the Philippines, are things really so bad that people would flock to this kind of guy or is it kind of like in the US where half the population is just nuts and constantly seeing phantoms where there are none?
