It would appear that a mosquito joined us at North Quincy.
A kid said he saw a stingray in the river. Maybe it was a skate or more likely, it was his imagination.
I wanted to show Vanessa some drawings from Figment but didn't have any with me, and I really haven't had the impetus to photograph everything, screenshot them, and mass jpg them what with Ashley being as she is, and all the cloudiness didn't help either. Vanessa says that Harvard Square is a great place for artists but I think I prefer Central or Davis.

A man had the Masque of the Red Death and Edgar Allan Poe tattooed on his leg and a Mesoamerican sun on his arm.

They don't print out the schedules because it saves paper but it wouldn't hurt them to print out one paper and post it somewhere where everyone can see it or maybe etch it into a terra-cotta tablet. Terra-cotta is two words? Or at least TextEdit thinks it is. Good to know.

Box Of Birds was playing outside Faneuil Hall, and no, I will never actually learn to spell that, and he's had CDs not survive the journey home too. They played a few originals and then an Amos Lee song about rainbows and When I'm 64 by The Beatles and then I left for Greenfest proper. That was quite serendipitous.
Faneuil Hall also has bathrooms.

Ed Koban plays guitar and Native American flute.
R.D. King played some stuff on guitar, including a wordless rendition of Across The Universe. Somebody played Come Together, I can't remember who.

The Responders play bluesy rock.
Kelly, the vocalist, told me that once someone drew scribbles of color and told her that's what they saw while listening to her music.

Julia Mark plays piano and sings about subjects like
"we're not like those people on TV because our lives aren't interrupted by ads for Frosted Flakes."
"My dreams are powered by static electricity" and also crescent moons. I think this song was specifically written for Greenfest.
See You On The Moon was written about the end of the world and when she finished college and wondering when she'd see people again.
I thought that with the Revolutionary era drum outside Faneuil Hall, she could play Josephine by Tori Amos.
She wrote her setlist on her hand because otherwise she'd forget.

Vinegar Mother reminds me of Bulldog only they don't have a saxophonist. They did once, but not anymore.
Julia sang about telling the moon to come with her and hide away. There will be an album in 2018. Julia has a tattoo of a woman hugging a guitar and a woman dancing, some song lyrics, a circle. Natalia is Julia's friend and Emma and Sarah are Natalia's friends.

Priya Parrotta Natarajan didn't get a description on the website. She's a guitarist and singer.

Lainie Marsh is a folk singer from rural Tennessee and sang about fracking, which she called strip mining on steroids, and the Paris Accords and wondering if the EPA was even still a thing. She compares them to predators but I think of them as being heedless of anyone caught in their footfalls. She studied music but ended up a professor of rhetoric.

The Sunset Kings are semi-related to The Mercy Project, although Athena was in another state.
In fact, Matt and Hannah both recognized me although he was unsure of the context. He says he never forgets a face and I'm the same way.
It says they're a sextet but they're actually a septet: vocals, guitar, bass, saxophone, violin, drums.
I swear Allister played with Gretch when they played at Greenfest a few years back. But maybe I'm wrong. He does seem to know who I'm talking about and says the album is coming along nicely.

Sofia Paola is Puerto Rican which means if some dumbass tells her to go back to her own country, she can not move at all.

The Jeb Bush Orchestra plays a blend of funk, rock, and jazz.

Mezzotono is an Italian a cappella group.

Naïka is a singer/songwriter with African and Caribbean influences.

M'bolo means togetherness in Wolof, which means that's probably what they were singing in. It's wonderfully danceable. She says that Ola and I have all the dance moves between us while she's not much of a dancer. There was the lead singer, a guitarist, backing vocals, those African drums played by two people, and a drumkit, a keyboard, a marimba. Ole was somewhat annoyed that they played one more song, and since these are West Africans, one song can be pretty long.

Inside City Hall was an art installation: the words "and then the baby boomers created institutions far more sinister than the ones they themselves had raged against" handcarved on a panel of sheetrock, a bathtub boat with a projector inside, some computational poetry inspired by Jasper Johns, a projected tapestry, some found broken liquor bottles covered in organza silk.

Mariah's tattoos are four-pointed flowers and spirals and a moon with a sun between the horns.
A woman had a pendant and earrings of abalone shell.
Leo, which might be short for Leocadia or Leona or Leonarda, or maybe not, has green eyebrows.

Rebekah says her spelling is the proper, original way and agrees with me about the proper spelling of Katherine. She has tattoos of a firefly, a broken light bulb, a rosette on her arm.
On her foot is a mixer. I think she said it was because she liked baking.
Her pendant was the moon with a moonstone covering up Terra Sanitatis, a name for the bright highland region that is no longer in common use. the Apennine Mountains and, Mare Nectaris and Mare Vaporum, and parts of Mare Nubium and Mare Tranquillitatis and Mare Imbrium, which are wonderfully evocative names for naught but desolation.
Jamie has tattoos of a hourglass face and roses and stars on one arm, three symbols on her other arm, an outline of a circle with an x over it, a solid black circle, an outline of a circle, the meanings of which she would rather not explain, and a pine tree growing out of a starscape on her leg. Her pendant is five parts with a spiral shell motif on the middle one and a face on the second one from the bottom.

They were selling bags of rambutans, which are amazing by the way. Some people eat the seeds, some people don't. It's like a giant grape with an almond inside, encased in an inedible pubic-looking thing. It also got stuck in my teeth. The woman with pink hair hates when that happens too.

A woman's shirt said Feminist as F ck, where the u where fuck should be was replaced with a flower.

Valentina is from Novi Sad, which is now in the autonomous Serbian province of Vojvodina which could end up its own country, and was part of Hungary briefly and was taken from them by the Partisans a week after Miklos Horthy was deposed and Austrian for a while.

Butterflies aren't immortal. When they say no butterflies were harmed to make these, what they mean is that they gather up butterflies that die. The woman there has tattoos of alchemical elemental symbols and 1701 on her hand, Baphomet with a woman's body, a dark deity whom the Knights Templar were accused of worshipping because King Philippe IV of France was jealous of their wealth or maybe because he was in debt to them, on her arm and the sigil of Lilith, who, according to her story, was cast into hell and forced to devour her children because she wouldn't do missionary position, and according to Neil Gaiman, God created Adam and Lilith conjoined together and separated them and she was cast out of Eden for not being subservient to him and gave birth to demonkind, while Adam's second wife was created in front of Adam and because Adam saw the process, he would not go near her, and his third wife Eve was created from Adam's rib while he slept and lived to be older than any woman.

I thought she said Mara but it's Varradh. D as in dinosaur, she says. Or maybe she meant Darragh, which is an Irish name, just not a very common one.
It's an Irish name. She apologized because it's long but it's not that, it's just so noisy it's hard to hear her. She was so overwhelmed by the red fox picture's cuteness that she backed into a nearby woman. She observed that I apparently like drawing people with glasses and people with big hair. Also, cat-ear headbands but those aren't as common. And chokers. And tattoos. She had to wander off after I drew her but she kept waving to me as I left, and then introduced herself to me properly when M'bolo was playing.
Wikipedia tells us Senegal's official language is French. I don't speak French but I know what French sounds like. Ok, I've mistaken Bulgarian for French. She can read Spanish, French, and something else but has trouble understanding it when it's spoken.

I ran into Margo at Park Street Station who told me the wildlife center had some barred owl babies but they died, and one of them had something wrong with it and it was holding its head upsidedown or something. I need visuals.

Somehow I ended up with a dollar coin which depicts an eagle landing on the moon.

burning question: would Melania Trump qualify for immigration under the RAISE act? I don't and I'm far more fluent in English than Melania Trump, but then again, Alex was more fluent in English than Melania Trump.
