and I'll wake up obsolete
Apr. 20th, 2010 10:51 pmFact: Livejournal knows that you're not posting on January 17, 1207 at 5:46 AM, let alone something ridiculous like November 23, 9791 at 6:57 PM (if you know the significance of those two dates, I salute you), so don't try it. I don't need to bother with October 11, 1984
I forgot to mention this, but I think they've been clipping punchlines out of the Simpsons. I can't think of any examples off hand of meaningless and pointless dialogue that was probably meant to be funny (MEANT to be funny means yes, I'm aware of Homer shaking his fist at that kid for being lactose intolerant and saying something about giving the ice cream the same respect he'd give any non-dairy treat and ooh you wear a bracelet and your boyfriend is that doctor who isn't Hibbert or Nick, and I don't think that was meant to be funny) offhand.
I found someone who may or may not be xsummoneryunax and therefore may not or may be someone in Poland or somewhere with the same name.
I also learned that even though Last.fm is down, I can browse the Polish last.fm, however, I can not log in and I can't manipulate cookies to be logged in, and if I knew how to do that, logging in to Polish Last.fm (1) is not the first thing I'd do.
Umm, actually, this is kind of a pathetic list since I don't really have any relics (mix tapes or iTunes playlists) to remind me and IUMA was flatlining. This is 2004 to 2005, by the way.
Dead Can Dance - The Arrival and the Reunion
Maurice Duruflé - Ubi Caritas Et Amor
Kidneythieves - Zerospace
Splashdown - Lost Frontier
A slowed down recording of Alvin and the Chipmunks, described as sounding like an accountant, a hot dog vendor, and a lunatic waiting for the bus in hell with Satan bellowing at them.
Lamb - Gorecki - Thanks, Amanda!
Shalabi Effect - Amber Pets
Mars Lazar - The Holiness - through much perusal of the liner notes and then the sound library it was taken from, I learned that it was from a ŋiTurkana ceremony. I also learned that Dreamwidth did not import the moods and now listening.
Temple of the Apocalyptic Doomageddon - Kevin's joke band that I have a CD of somewhere, but no tracklist. I use "in to" loosely here.
Cocteau Twins - Need-Fire
Abdel Gadir Salim - Umri Ma Bansa
Unknown - Euy Saob Nas
(1) The Last.fm main page is back as of the time I actually finished writing this, and the first thing I did was went to the Polish page and found myself logged in. So it doesn't matter. Oh well.
Burning Question: Will anyone remember any of our pop culture in 9791? It would be amazing if there was a small celebration on November 23, 9791. Thinking back to 7000 years ago, maybe. BUT, the storage media may become obsolete, and I'd imagine reverse engineering a casette player to fit the casette tape is a lot harder than making a casette to work with casette player specifications.
Burning Question 2: If radio signals from Earth could be deciphered from 60 light years away, aliens there would be hearing about World War II. Would the aliens (PEOPLE MAKING A SEQUEL TO INDEPENDENCE DAY TAKE NOTE) think humanity is a huge threat or that we can't get our shit together enough to be a threat?
