Hey, if the Macedonians can start a band called Haos in Laos, the Croatians can start a band called The Angry Koreans.

Disconnect from Desire is interesting. The first four songs are amazing. I L U wouldn't sound out of place on a Delerium album, really. It kind of makes me think of Spirit Youth, in that it's a departure from the previous album, but I liked Spirit Youth more than In Her Gentle Jaws, while I'm equally pleased with both SVIIB albums.

Obama ate some ice cream at a place in Bar Harbor with what may or may not be a black power logo holding a spoon. That's scandalous. The owner's white? Well, you know who else was white? Vladimir fucking Lenin! (1)

(1) Actually, I've seen people say that Russians aren't white. Or they just make up something about a nonexistent Jewish ancestry and make the world a better place for antisemites everywhere.

Overheard: In Czech, they pick random letters out of a bag.

You know, that makes sense to me, except I was thinking Hrvatska and not Cesky. They don't use monkeys; monkeys aren't actually random. Scrabble pieces are and they have the added bonus of letter frequencies, so there's nowhere called xxfqqqfmzzs.

Jean-Philippe Rameau - Tambourin
Brahms - Hungarian Dance no. 5 - He actually got this from another composer and not an actual folk dance like he thought.
Beethoven - Symphony no. 8 - More Classical formalism, less power than the 9th, more danceable.

Overture to Die Fledermaus - The kid next to me was doing the Batusi. And Fledermaus is German for the Fledermaus. Or bat.

Also, lots of people with umbrellas.
Slavonic Dance no. 8
Danse de Cygnes - The people next to me did the Finger Dance.
Danse napolitaine -
L'Arlesienne Suite - One of those pieces I know but don't know the name for until now. You can conga to it. Or do the hokey pokey. Or do whatever the people next to me did.

Hoe Down

??? -
Can-can - Has anyone ever spliced together Armand Assanti and Sylvester Stallone saying law to this melody?

Overheard on the Red Line: a guy singing something like "don't call my name, don't call my name FERNAAAAAAAAAAAANDO!"

A quick google search says it's by Lady Gaga, but I think I prefer his version.

Dumb things people say online: something about women not being monsters. Irma Grese would disagree with that assessment. As would many a leucrotta.

You know what, let's just say I discovered this on sunday and don't want to make one entry every day. Give them time to sink in, after all.

Day 01 - Your favorite song - or rather, a song I like at the moment, hmm, how about I L U by School of Seven Bells?
Day 02 - Your least favorite song - or a song I hate, since I don't really want to listen to crappy music in order to rank it, umm, there's the first level music from Bubsy the Bobcat. That's the last thing I heard for more than a minute that I hated. Maybe the Flotilla Choir, but I've only managed fifteen seconds of that. And it's nowhere as catchy as doo-da-doo du-du-dee-dee-doo-du-da-da-doo doo doo doo da-da-duh-da-doo da da doo-da-doo-da-daaa-da-dooo.
Day 03 – A song that makes you happy - Slowdive - Brighter. I think that's the idea.
Day 04 – A song that makes you sad - Slowdive - Melon Yellow
Day 05 – A song that reminds you of someone - Slowdive - Melon Yellow

Burning Question: (as posed by Solaris) What is it with movies and always being based on something else?
