1. Open up your music player. Hit shuffle.
2. Record the first few lines of the first thirty songs that come up that do not give away the name of the song. Skip instrumentals, but don't skip the embarrassing ones.
3. Make hapless LJ denizens guess the song names and artists. Google is cheating. For musical songs, the name of the musical is acceptable in place of the artist.
4. Least hapless LJ denizen wins admiration. That's right, just like a lobbyist in budget season, the points don't matter.
ok then. I'm going to skip every third song, I know it. I'm going to skip it if its unintelligible or if I can't find the lyrics to non-English songs that aren't obvious. I wanted 16 in Arabic script, but they write right-to-left. Â is pronounced like au in August, if you must know.
The first thing I get is Khmer. There were a few other non-English songs I couldn't find lyrics for.
1. come on little man now all's said and done, all that I'm asking is you show me some fun
2. I know all you want is sleep, but these neuroses go pretty deep, and these words we use aren't the nicest ones.

7. I'm the first in the Irish Sea, another message I can't read
8. sometimes I feel like I must be blind, almost like I've been living a lie, sometimes I feel like I have to sigh, only to think about you
9. tell me where you've seen my life, I look into your eyes and can only see my own complexion
10. you do not know who I am. You desperately… I'm trying to…
11. write down your dream of a powder-hill on a foggy windowpane, snow shakes the light off wistful and wan.
12. sally sleeps in her bed, a certain shade of dark red, covers her, lets her dream well

29. said uncle, your face is green, try not to look at the scene
30. sail on silver wings through this storm, what fortune love may bring
I wish you much luck with this.
Things that are not awesome: Publishers who think "yeah, let's release the good stuff in Britain and give the Americans shit like Flashback."
Things that are awesome: Finding my Temple of the Apocalyptic Doomageddon CD. The first track goes silent and also skips and I don't know if that was intentional/unintentional on Kevin's part ("oh, the recording fucked up! Fuck! Oh, well, let's just leave it in!") or because my CD was scratched.
hehehe, there's a noise take on Iron Man Matt Bellamy style, played through a broken amp.
Day 12 - Imagine you’re behind in your word count goals (even if you’re not) and are going to pull an all-nighter to catch up. Screencap a playlist of inspirational music you would use to get you up to speed.
I'm not really one to use inspirational playlists. Just listen to what's there or what evokes the memories I want, and let the words flow.
And I am behind. I never planned to write 50,000 words, maybe 30,000 at most.
Day 13 - Name a male character from your novel. Describe him through the point of view and words of the female character you introduced in question 3 (if they never interact, pick another female character).
I was thinking of describing a male character Natalia never interacts with, but his impact on her life is great despite that. I think I'll keep it.
So…
"He's the one who started the war in the first place. It's his fault the Selinians are stomping across our lands and telling us what we can and can not eat and have and wear, fuck him, fuck him a thousand times, fuck his eye whites, fuck the ground he stands on. He's acting like Nevdasht needed him to come riding in on his white horse and save us from ourselves. At least the Champassakans are winning."
"I'm not normally this angry. But hearing his name fills me with yellow bile."
Day 14 - Is the sexuality of your characters a large part of your novel’s story? If so, are there characters who deviate from the heterosexual “norm”? In what way?
I'll let her say it in her own words.
"Promise me this. Promise that you won't back down on this to any opposition. I should be able to be with the one I love if I damn well please. Even if the revolution is hijacked and I gain nothing else, I want that one victory. It means a lot to me."
Day 15 - Do any of your characters have a disability or mental illness? If so, how does that affect their development throughout your story?
Rosalia's schizophrenic and sterilized and that motivates Juventius to join the revolutionaries.
Day 16 - At around the half-way point, it bears mentioning that most of us wrimos have other obligations beside simply hitting that elusive word count. What else do you have going on in your life (work, school, children, neurotic pets, etc.), and just how much are you shafting it to win NaNo?
Work and volunteering and enjoying the last warm days of the year.
Day 17 - In what time period is your novel set? Is it in this world or another?
Far future. If anything, it's similar to a hypothetical situation where Germany invades the Soviet Union, loses at Stalingrad, Moscow, and Leningrad, but the Soviet Union can only take back up to the Dnipro River or so. And Ukraine is a vast desert. And Poland is still under the German yoke. And Germany had no client states or allies. And it's as politically as stable as Yemen.
Laos has spiders the size of dinner plates.
Breitbart's media empire is praising the latest Adam Sandler film and someone calls people who don't like it (Pajiba, I'm looking at you) elitist. Huh, it looks like crap. Pajiba calls it incontrovertible proof that there is no god. But then again, what do I know, I went to see the bear in the little car last week?
burning question: who's the least funny comedian?
