The raccoons were sleeping in the sink. All three of them. The room's set up with leaves and fallen branches and piles of rocks and a crate for them to retreat to when one of the techs comes in with angry shouting and foot stomping (to make sure they're afraid of people), and it was much sooner than I thought it would be, so I neglected to bring the camera. I thought I'd be carrying rocks again.

After that, two of them were play-fighting (I suggested the names Itchy and Scratchy because of this) while the third one (perhaps he can be Poochie) tried in vain to get water out of the faucet. The handles are gone, so even if they knew that it's those thingies next to the faucet and not the faucet itself, all their efforts will be for naught.

Pictures next week, I can promise you that. Except for owl pictures. We have a screech owl and a barn owl, but they're in med ward and hiding behind towels, so it might be hard. What am I saying might?

Right now, a few other things.
1. I learned this today: the image of Grampa walking in the door, putting his hat on the rack, walking in a circle, taking his hat, and walking out the door is mirrored. It's been so long since I've seen that episode that I never noticed.
2. the truest statement about Latma ever: at least find some talented people to write and produce this kind of stuff so it's possible for those who don't share your narrow worldview to enjoy it.
3. Fuck yes, a sequel to Metropolitan and City on Fire that Walter Jon Williams won't take to the grave with him. Hopefully with more elves getting smushed by tanks. Drow vs. Falco Velocycle, fight!
4. I think I found what certainly has to be the weirdest junk search in all human history. I searched for Muriseay (a place mentioned in The Islanders, which I just finished; I'm reading Hothouse right now) to see if any real life places share its name, and I found something in some vaguely Gaelic-meets-Malagasy gibberish. I remember finding something that was or wasn't something Caucasian, but damned if I remember what it was. And there's a restaurant called La Caraqui, which I can't find a definition of or a translation, so my only guess is they named it after the titular City on Fire.
5. someone thinks Greybeard by Brian Aldiss is the worst book he's ever read, and yet he likes things like Escape From Detroit: The Collapse of America's Black Metropolis, SBPDL Year One: 365 Days in Black America, and The Rantings of a Single Male: Losing Patience With Feminism, Political Correctness and Basically Everything (what's with non-fiction books and their long-ass, similar titles? That's not a burning question, I asked that a long time ago. If you still want to answer it, it's fine with me.). Makes me want to read Greybeard soon.
6. I used non-fiction in the loosest sense of the word. "delusioned ravings of a madman" would be more fitting.

Burning Question: how would a normal person drive to work in the Sonic universe?
