and this was the first day where it's really obvious that summer is almost at its end. I wouldn't call this the best summer ever (that would be 2002's summer), but it came pretty damned close, and it was certainly a summer well-spent.

Life's spark shines on, once freed from its fleshly shroud. Dreams, meanwhile, shatter in a flash.

Sam (she dropped the Maha- and the -atman from her name and once she put a glow-stick on her cat and let it do its thing while taking a long-exposure shot) used green-tossing as a threat.

I learned some important things too: there are McDonalds and KFC in South Africa, and they know about other places from TV and such. The Fast Supper, the one with Jesus and Lenin, was painted on fabric. And the artist says you can't tell who anyone is except for Jesus and usually you can at least identify Judas (I'm assuming she means the apostles, because if you can't identify the mascots, you probably live in a cave on Mars with your eyes shut and your fingers in your ears). Now, I'm not the most religious person in the world, understatement of the year, but I don't think I'd recognize any of them even if it wasn't painted on a flimsy cloth. I don't know if there are physical descriptions of anyone in the Bible. You know how religious art is. Romans depict Jesus as Roman, Ethiopians depict Jesus as Ethiopian, Middle Easterners depict Jesus as Middle Eastern, Indians depict Jesus as Indian, and so on.

It's all about mass production and consumerism, but I'm sure we already figured that out. Oh, yes, and chocolate is the symbol of love, and when it rains, people get wet and sand is coarse and rough and irritating and gets everywhere.

Broad-winged hawks are smaller than red-tailed hawks and sound like what Tommy Wiseau thinks a chicken sounds like.

Yeah, I think Four Hundred Billion Stars is better than Hyperion. It's certainly less whackadoodle. Someone on Telebunny was saying there was undercurrents of Simmons' fear and hatred of change and all things alien in Fall of Hyperion. I don't remember any of that in Endymion, but that was whackadoodle in entirely different ways.

The setting reminds me of Celestis.

I painted this.
and I took a picture of it under less than optimal lighting conditions. And I learned something again: crayolas and watercolors don't get along. If you're planning the same thing I am, which is to draw a silly design of a monster or a dinosaur or a giraffe or an octopig wearing a trenchcoat, don't bother. Or use a different medium.

5 views today! Far more impressive than the last one.

this statement only means something to me: they played House of Love at work.

time flows in strange ways when the Simpsons is no longer in syndication. And it's thrown my biological clock off, so I'll think it's 9 when it's only 6:45 and wake up at 5:59 AM.

someone had another Batman related dream, in which Batman uses the Riddler's brain as a basis for his AI.

Burning question: I read something as "goatwritten." Could a goat write a better book than Sarah Palin?
