Aug. 12th, 2013 08:23 pmSalvador flipped himself over twice trying to climb out of the tray while I was soaking him. And at least the poop deliquesced nicely, unlike when I'm cleaning his box and it's stuck to the surface.

Dino the hand-raised goose is eating like a real goose. He shares his space with two older geese with adult plumage and a swan who is gray and chirps because juveniles do that. Swanny isn't quite an adult yet; he/she has really stubby wings.
Two interns were trying to get the baby ducks outside in the goat pen to swim around in the kiddy pool. They were chasing them around and trying to put them in, and they kept running through the pool or jumped out when they put one of them in via hand. Five minutes later, they got all four in and walked away satisfied, and then one flailed his wings and splashed the others and they get out and he had the entire pool to himself.

One of the interns doesn't like papaya. I told everyone else not to listen to her. She even agrees with that because the only papaya she had was one someone donated to the wildlife center, and I doubt it's that fresh.
Once they were smearing mice with peanut butter for the raccoons to eat.

The baby hummingbird weighs 2 grams. I weigh 57 kilograms or so. He's eating really well.
Ladybugs' wings beat faster than hummingbirds'. Oh, and some ladybugs are actually boys! Everyone knows that one, though.

A rabbit with botflies came in. Botflies fly in to open wounds and lay their eggs and then when the larvae are old enough to fly, they burrow out and leave a gaping hole. Wonderful, huh?
There are botflies here but the ones that can infect humans live in South and Central America.

Burning Question: It's Schrödinger's birthday today! Or is it?
