This was meant to be in mid-April, actually, but some things happened alas and Boston was under lockdown and somebody compared it to All Summer In A Day. It's Beethoven's 9th which I've written about before, with a few important differences: the third movement was at the metronome speed Beethoven specified, which everyone thought was a mistake, and not the vaguely-defined tempo, which nobody thought matched the metronome speed and so they took some poetic licence, and the final movement was at a more or less consistent tempo. I''d like to point out that I always forget the second movement was part of the 9th.

I'll discuss the symphony format in a future entry when it's even more relevant, so stick around.

and I learned that the Coriolan Overture is the only work by Beethoven that does not end in triumph.

At Symphony Station, there was some wooden supports for a pillar, with graffiti etched into them, and alas I didn't get to stay long enough to write it down.

I'll leave you with this, even if it is a bit late for laying in the Boston Common watching the sun set and eating sandwiches and having conversations about cat playing cards and butterflies and William Shakespeare and Catherynne M. Valente. I mean, you could do that, but it's autumn now and the mood isn't right for that song.

It's Dominican (Dominican Republic, not Dominica) no wave. I actually discovered this back in late July almost a year after seeing Coriolanus and Ro Sham Beaux and the woman with a fiddle on the Common, I just never got around to linking to it. I don't know why.

The worst thing about autumn is that one day it's going to be too cold to do all those summer things you never got to do.
burning question: what's your biggest regret of the post-summer?
I didn't get to stay for that concert on the Greenway (see Our Ecstatic Days).
