I was expecting to be barely on time for Night Of A Thousand Faces, not on time enough to get dinner, instead, I walked in on pumpkin lighting a bit late. I won't make that mistake again tomorrow, I swear. This year, we had two paths. One, two. With about 600 pumpkins. I couldn't find mine. I'm sure they were around but it was dark and the paths were crowded, but Désireé (her costume including… some kind of hat… it was dark) found hers (she's the one who made the tribal fish, not Miranda) and one that had METALLICA carved into it, and I noticed The Oogie Boogie Man and a flying saucer attack and an octopus on the not-spooky path. The spooky path was this: the bridge had a troll under it, or perhaps just a voice in the tall grass, Ian? (dunno, it was dark) jumped out at people, there was a tangle of gloves filled with water, if only they could be illuminated, there was a bush festooned with spiderwebs, Unnecessary Surgery with Jean operating on a guy who said "it's not spaghetti, it's GUTS! AHAHAHAHAHA!" and the devil sacrificing Michael Jackson (Jean said it's Medusa but close enough), a skeleton, a body lying down that I kept expecting to jump up at any moment, more hanging gloves, ambient sounds that sounded like a flying saucer would appear overhead. And then the path emptied out into the parking lot.

Let me tell you, tall grass and starlight is an awesome thing. I kind of wish I had batteries in my camera but I don't think a shot of starlight and grass would look very good anyway. No moon like last year, only Venus, alas, but the weather itself cooperated with us and no threat of snowicane whatsoever.

Christina was there, albeit there too briefly. It wasn't exactly easy to carry on a conversation and I had to run off and relight the occasional burnt-out candles, but it went like this (paraphrased): "Look at me! I'm a receptionist! Gfa, ha, ha!" and "that's amazing" and "I know you've seen this" and then I think she disappeared somewhere. It's hard to imagine her being scary. I doubt it was the Spooky Pumpkin Trail.

There was a really cute opossum baby who yawned a few times.

burning question: Does Abobo like adobo?
