Someone said Opera Vita Aeterna was worse than Naruto fanfiction. And don't think for one second that Vox's stories being exposed to the wider world will introduce a bit of self-doubt, because it doesn't. A fellow on Twitter actually read the thing and Vox just raved about how he didn't understand his DEEP PHILOSOPHICAL THEMES.

A woman (her name was Rebecca) who was a nanny, her own kid, and two kids she was babysitting (I forgot their names), brought in a Russian tortoise that someone left in a cranberry bog, apparently not at all aware that tortoises are land animals. She named him Fred because she likes naming animals after people she knows, and two of them have a cat named Bunny. It reminds them of a bunny, that's why. Like the cat on my t-shirt. They also had a dog who ended up with their grandmother, who gained about 200 pounds there.
They were reminded of this because there's a bunny named Princess who looks like a terrier, who was climbing on her cage. I called her "him." I don't think they'd name a boy bunny Princess.
Although I named mine Bugs. I think I named her before I got her. In fact, I think I named her when I knew I was getting a rabbit.

Because Rebecca is weird, she sometimes will tape her thumbs to her hands and try to live a typical day without using opposable thumbs.
I added this in because the Marathon was today. That's something that only humans and a few other species can do.

she was talking about someone who had a monkey. I wondered if it was a capuchin.
Rebecca was talking about things that are supposedly unnatural, but it happens in other animals. Like birth control and capuchins.

and I was wondering where smiling comes from because even chimpanzees get pissed off at you when you smile. Rebecca's like "maybe it's like when cats show their bellies. You're basically showing them your most vulnerable part and saying 'I trust you.'" Maybe, maybe.

She said blobfish were actually kind of cute. Rebecca says everything has its beautiful qualities.

Rebecca said that more museums need to adopt lower prices for lower-income families but I guess there are powerful political factions that don't want to see that. Factions that see poverty as a punishment.

Because Catherine is from Colombia, one of the most ecologically diverse countries in the world, where they have sloths. It's not legal to have them for pets but people do anyway:
And because Erica had to keep an eye on two sloths so they didn't get into fights once:
Kaz showed off a video of sloths fighting. Look for the one with one exclamation mark, the one with three is so poor-quality you can't tell what's going on. Let me tell you about sloths fighting: the sloth on the right creeps up to the other one, then just sort of lunges at him at sauntering speed for any other animal, and the other one falls off of the branch or something.
And also I thought "wow, I sound like Bob Belcher" because:
"is the garter snake still there?"
"Yes."
"I was asking them, not you."
"Well, it's not like you're going to get a different answer."

burning question: just what the fuck is a "whiskers on kittens" scented candle supposed to smell like?
