the edge of death
Jun. 18th, 2014 07:18 pmI wasn't sure what icon to use. Hm, I've been using Desire and Death a lot and Lucien a little, so I guess I'll use Lucien.
I'm reading Gravity's Rainbow (I've had this on my list along with Infinite Jest and One Hundred Years Of Solitude since the end of high school and I'm only now getting around to it), and I'm in disbelief: This book has four chapters. The book is almost 900 pages long. I'll be reading it for a while (and if I find Infinite Jest, I'll probably spend the rest of summer's 93 days with that), and if anyone says "you're reading Gravity's Rainbow?" I can't respond with "re-reading, actually."
Paige got a portrait done (she asked for one), as did Lindsey and Kristian (though I'm not entirely satisfied with Kristian's portrait… I'll have to try again). Jessica draws cartoons.
There was another random woman who liked owls.
This is funny, there's a thing called a calicivirus, which manifests itself as a respiratory infection in cats, and people name their dogs Khaleesi. Spelling is important. And people can't seem to spell Chloe. I'm going to blame Kim il Kardashian for that one.
we watched The Girl Who Survived Rabies. You can watch it too. It's about 42 minutes long and seems to have some audio-visual desync near the end.
You too might be able to survive rabies but I don't recommend that. Even if you were one of the lucky few, it's not really a fate anyone deserves. If you really want to know what rabies does, take a lot of crack. Don't take enough crack to kill you, of course.
There are hospices in India* where people with rabies get tied down, sedated, and wait for Yama's sweet embrace. That's just terrifying.
*This happens in the Philippines and Thailand too.

I forgot to mention this in Monday's entry, but we got the weight of the pig by looking at the length of his body, the circumference around the shoulders, and a chart with various species on it.

I want to get a message about the wisdom of quoting a man who could easily be outwitted by a Sara Longwing, but I have no idea where it would get noticed. I can't put them in the blog itself; it hasn't been updated since 2010.
burning question: How do you write the letter S? I start from the top. It just feels awkward starting from the bottom.
I know, this is probably like asking "how do you tie your shoes?" because I ... tie them... I make complicated hand motions and they're tied.
