a typical day
Jul. 14th, 2014 04:51 pmAnd I was all optimistic and excited when the week began too.
Well, nothing really happened. A bunny got spayed, but it's been a while since I've seen a spaying, especially when you factor in temporal diffraction, and so I didn't remember just how long it takes to shave a rabbit (they have delicate skin), how long it takes to put a rabbit under anesthesia (I actually spelled that right!), and I needed to finish cleaning the reptiles before the surgery itself began. One of our turkeys showed up at someone's door and then wandering the aisles of the nearby liquor store. Jess, Tom, and Nina didn't show up for some reason. One of the baby geese in the goat pen had a deformed beak (the top part is bent to the side and you can see his tongue) so Ian and I were wondering how well he'd do once he gets released, because those canada geese can be vicious.
Friday might be nice, if filled with mosquitos. Wednesday's going to suck in that "unseasonably cold and wet" variety. Tuesday, I don't care what happens, as long as I get enough brief respite from the rain to go get a sandwich or sushi or whatever before class. Meanwhile, I have a canker sore on the side of my lip to deal with.
And since Archer has taken over my brain, anytime anyone says anything about going on a date, I'm going to ask if they mean the fruit of the date palm. I'd say I can't wait until the next season but the next season begins in January.
EDIT: Because memory is weird, I just thought of this quote by one of our interns. "Disco and funk are the same thing. Just like hip-hop and R&B are the same thing. Well, they are now."
I'm totally misquoting him, by the way.
burning question: There were five fellow volunteers at the Wildlife Center last monday. What are the odds that none of them would show up?
