I was going to say "except all oratorios are sacred, kupo," but that is apparently not true. There are oratorios (oratori?) that are based on things like the Vietnam War, Martin Luther King, and Oedipus Rex. I'm not the most knowledgable but I think that cantatas and oratorios are more or less interchangeable.
Each part was sung by either one (1) soloist or the chorus. Never both. I know that's why they're called soloists, but I was expecting a duet or a call and response between the soloist and or something, but I guess the soprano just missed her cue to sit down.

A woman near me said Menotti's The Consul was, uh, I forget the word she used, but I'd use enrapturing. Terrifying, too, she said. She's a vocalist in some choir I can't think of.
I said "so, I guess the reason she had to go through all that paperwork is because if she simply fled, she'd get deported back to her home country once they're found out and the secret police would have an excuse to make their lives even worse. Like when Rohingyas flee Burma into Bangladesh or Thailand, but nobody really wants them there.
because I didn't think of it until well after I saw it and wrote the entry about it.

The art gallery near the bathrooms had works by a family of artists, the wife, daughter, and grandchildren of Konrad Bercovici. One of the artists thought I asked who Leonard Bernstein is when in reality, I asked which portrait was Leonard Bernstein's. I mean, I have his Mass on my iPod.

I'm just going to edit this in.

Mirana Comstock, whom I think I met there, is a photographer. Her photographs on display are from mermaid parades on Coney Island, the NYC Gay Pride Parade, and a series of Modern Dance.
Naomi Lebrescu, which I can tell is a Romanian name by the -escu suffix, painted with oils and watercolors.
Konrad B. Abbott painted in oils.
Mirel Bercovici, whom I had to ask about her origins, did the three Bernstein paintings, or, actually, two Bernstein paintings and a charcoal drawing.

It also had free grapes. Yay! Which is nice because I didn't eat anything before I got there around 1:30 PM.

Burning question: Who's the most famous person you've met?
