Someone at the wildlife center did a painting that reminded me of The Kiss at the MFA. The video, not the Klimt painting. But now that I actually look at the video of The Kiss, it's really not that similar. The details on her eyes and lips were amazing. It looks like a still from an old movie, complete with a slightly decayed look and a scaly black border.

The problem with white nose syndrome is that it eats through their wings, which are only a few cells thick, and it strikes when their immune systems are at their weakest.
But there's evidence that bats are starting to recover from it. Scant evidence. A frail hope, but hope nonetheless.

Birds recovered from West Nile quite nicely. It was especially hard on corvids and they're already at their pre-West Nile levels.

It was a quiet day, otherwise. there were donuts and cookies and popcorn left over from a kid's birthday party, at least. Someone brought a pet guinea pig and someone brought a veiled chameleon. I think it was a veiled chameleon, anyway. Going by Wikipedia, male veiled chameleons are more vivid than the one we looked at.

The woodcock died all of a sudden. He wasn't actually named anything. Rob said there's a curse involving names: whenever you name something, it dies, no matter how healthy it is. So perhaps they're True Names, because most of the time, we're the first ones to name them. We don't have facilities for dolphins, obviously. So maybe Fabio and that one blue jay who had a name were both named in secret by the people who brought them in.

Jacob's high school went through their science classes in the same order mine did: bio, chem, physics.
Actually, I broke from the order and did bio, physics, chem. Actually, now that I think about it, a lot of people did. Although I think (this was 12 years ago, by the way) I was the only 12th grader in my chemistry class*.

*Markku from Vox Popoli is proud because he can figure out my exact age based on this statement. I don't know what he plans to do with it, nor why he decided to gather such information in the most roundabout way possible. To be fair, we are talking about someone who thinks me mentioning Tallinn is paydirt. Because Tallinn is the first place I could think of that's around 60° North and Tiksi I mentioned because it's the name of a town in Ian Irvine's Well of Echoes quartet and long ago I was bewildered to find out it was a real place too.

We were talking about science classes and I said it would make more sense to do chemistry first and then biology, because so much of biology is chemical processes.

Burning Question: So, is it not possible to call someone out for their shitty generic animesque elves while still liking Final Fantasy or animes like Last Exile and Studio Ghibli films?
