wise blood
Jan. 19th, 2015 11:18 pm59 days until the vernal equinox.
More music by Emma. Reminds me of Odessa Chen, Lusine, and Toe (the Japanese band, ding-dong) collided. Again, since [censored] the Stalking Douchebag [censored] and [censored]erfuckinnnnn[censored] and their supporters probably have already seen at the very least a still frame from her song videos and won't watch it because "Emma's a hipster" or something profoundly stupid like that, I can see little reason to not share it with people who will like it.
I woke up on the 17th unable to shake the feeling that something very bad happened.
Also for some reason I thought there was some sort of special significance to January 17. Spoiler alert: there isn't.
I've learned two very important things this weekend: One is that Facebook doesn't always feel like sending out an e-mail notification so I really shouldn't be upset with Emma for something that's Facebook's fault. The other is that the Frozen Blade is massively improved in Avernum 2 (in fact, it's pretty much the Fiery Sword, except not as useful against undead instead of totally worthless against undead, but useful against those damned drakes*) and it can be obtained as soon as you reach Chapter 4.
*by the way, in Escape from the Pit, the spectral falchion and the fiery sword do the same amount of damage against things like drakes, haakais, and fiery demons.) Also, unlike Avernum 2, don't expect a free boat.
Emma said it was a hectic week for her and she wasn't able to make it to the MFA. I'm sure we'll think of something. I mean, I can't make it to the things she invites me to, especially without teleportation boots, so I guess it all balances out.
There was an Emma-esque painting of Martin Luther King made by some kids in Chinatown made on squares of colorful paper, with pipe cleaners in the shape of hearts.
Someone noticed that there's a sculpture of a woman feeding an owl with a golden spoon.
Klimt's unfinished Adam and Eve is visiting the MFA, compared with another painting of two lovers in embrace (Double Nudes by Oscar Kokoscha. I say that if it's at an art museum, it's almost guaranteed safe for work (exception being some Qing dynasty erotic paintings in which a woman sticks what I think is a plum in another woman's vagina) but there is nudity, so don't click if they're super-strict about that stuff. The woman in this painting is Alma Mahler, by the way.
Yes, sacrum does mean sacred. The reason the bone is called the sacrum is because it might have been used in offerings. Or it could just be a mistranslation of something else. Who knows?
I met someone who was a fan of Kayo Dot in the Korean art room. He was wearing a shirt that said Thank You Scientist, which I imagined as being kind of like Red Hot Chili Peppers except more metal, and he said it was kind of jazzish too and I brought up Kayo Dot.
I met some people from Albania who noticed Illyria was missing from a map of the ancient world and that's not ok according to them. Albania's the setting of Twelfth Night and the last third of Fairyland.
The Aral Sea was missing but it's disappearing in real life too. I don't know why you'd ever want to do this, but you can go to Moynaq in Uzbekistan and see the rusting hulks of trawlers. Well, I guess you'd go there to see the rusting hulks of trawlers, but you're risking pollution-related illnesses and being spirited away to join the annual cotton harvest.
One of the guides there won cobra knowing.
A guy I sketched thought I looked familiar somehow. He's younger than me and we didn't go to the same school, so who knows?
burning question: so there are clashes between Assad's forces and the YPG. What do you think the coalition will do?
