I'm going to echo sentiments about NeoGAF I've seen elsewhere: it was a site that wasn't infested with anime nazis and because of that, it's a great loss. But I guess that's the way things have been going.
Although I think the situation with Livejournal was more about cracking down on Russian dissidents and a blow against left wing English-speaking communities was just a happy accident to them.
Amazon finally pulled the plug on its discussion forums to little notice. Actually, they did it a few weeks before I noticed on October 17 after a thought on toxic people and toxic communities.
I had a dream like a sunlit Blade Runner, the city, its rooftop gardens and stained glass cupolas, was stately, but in a state of decay. I was trying to find Ashley. In the reality we are in, I have no real updates, only that things aren't great. I know things now but these are things part of me had already realized. I haven't yet figured out if this gives me hope or not.
We have a hermit thrush. We were planning to release him but he failed his flight test and someone had to run out to the woods and get him. While this was happening, Gallop strutted up behind Jen and grabbed the sheet with his information on it and devoured it. Earlier, Laura was cleaning out the water bin and he very awkwardly ate an entire apple, and then burped in Emily's face after all she's done for him.
All About Birds describes his song as "oh, holy holy, ah, purity purity eeh, sweetly sweetly" and Jen says what he's really saying is "I hate humanity."
Emily says that bees are very clingy this time of year. Once she saw a bee in a bucket and it stung her. She says that she thought today would be the last nice day. I don't think that's true; it's going to rain all week but it will be nice by Friday, which is great.
The snapping turtle is female; we know this because she laid a clutch of eggs.
A painted turtle is getting released. The white-footed mice have been released. A tufted titmouse was released. A milk snake got run over by a lawnmower or something and his jaw is messed up. A modo had a keel fracture and a coracoid fracture and now he can't get vertical lift. There are gulls but no fish so they got extra mice and those mice didn't look very fresh. The sora is still with us, as are the squirrel and the chipmunk, but all the orphans are gone.
Jen was eating moussaka with a lot of mint in it and it sounds very good.
There is a search for lost species going on right now and right now, they're looking for the pink-headed duck, last seen in 1949, which means they'll be trudging around in swamps in northern Burma. Primrose thinks they look like a turkey. The pink head is bare skin, not feathers.
I wonder what they'll find in the Puerto Rico Trench. I sometimes wonder if there are trilobites or hallucigenia down there, after all, it wouldn't be unprecedented.
burning question: oh, come the fuck on, does Assange not see the irony of what he just said?
