yamamanamaI met a woman with an Alphonse Mucha tattoo. I'm not sure what it was specifically because she was wearing winter clothing over most of it.
Sapir was talking about her experiences with tech/engineering being condescendingly sexist. Once she was carrying a circuitboard and some dudebro was demanding to know what she was doing with it and was asking her if and then someone was asking her how she got the job and I'm pretty sure the implication was "she's sleeping with the guy because women are no good at engineering, am I right." I had a hard time being surprised by this. It's still largely a boy's club. Mathematics and certain sciences aren't nearly as bad, though.
We have a razorbill and Emily says it looks like a penguin. They're in the auk family, much like the dovekie and murre. In fact, the word "penguin" originally referred to the great auk and when European explorers reached South Africa and Antarctica, they called the indigenous black and white flightless birds "penguins." This guy's feathers aren't waterproof probably due to some contamination so they're going to wash him.
The goose got his eye removed. Or all that gunky jelly stuff was drained out of it. I don't know, I wasn't there.
We have an emaciated eider. Normally they eat molluscs and they eat stones which can even grind up their shells.
We have a large obnoxious angry swan and our diagnosis is that he's an ungrateful bastard.
The sora's still losing weight and we're not sure why.
The Great Barrier Reef is still dying but scientists have figured out a way to breed coral in captivity.
Gothelittle's proposal to relocate people until everyone lives on 1.5 acres and you don't need to visit cities because you can buy things on Amazon would probably cause a great deal of resentments and deaths but maybe the generations after who were raised in it might support it.
This is really fucked up: Chicago's proposal for getting Amazon's 2nd headquarters is that basically the workers will still pay taxes but those taxes will be diverted to Amazon instead of being used for schools and transit or whatever, and Fresno (which, incidentally, is my least favorite name for anywhere) says they'll give Amazon power in city-planning and blatantly said they'd divert funding from fire departments on the outskirts.
burning question: was one of the terms of Mugabe stepping down for Zimbabwe to have a new president who won't make him look bad by comparison? It's hard to make Mugabe look good, I don't know, Nguema is still running things in Equatorial Guinea. Maybe if they dig up Pol Pot?
