I got to meet an axolotl!!!!!!!111!!!one. I've talked about them before but this is the first time I saw one of them in person. They're a lot bigger than I thought they'd be. I was expecting spotted salamander (a close relative) sized. They're not quite hellbender sized. More like mudpuppy sized. They have little eyes with no eyelids and poor vision and stubby legs and big smiles. Her owner, Kyle, is a woman with disconcertingly long fingers, and she says she doesn't use them for playing the piano or anything like that.
So I'm also wondering. Sometimes salamanders, not just axolomeh but mudpuppies and sirens and amphiuma, retain juvenile features into sexual maturity, because conditions on land are harsh or because they live in permanent bodies of water and not ephemeral ones. Sometimes they develop scales and eggs with shells. And I know that reptile and amphibian, or reptile and bird or reptile and mammal for that matter, isn't a quantum, it's more a continuum. The word amphibian implies that they all go through some sort of metamorphosis. This means that there were probably scaled tetrapods that went through a metamorphosis or amphibians with peramorphic young that later evolved scales and eggshells. Hmm.

Janie and possibly Molly had two Russian tortoises. They also had a cat named Padme but she wasn't with them.
We have approximately 50 baby turtles, a lot of them wood turtles. I heard something about the illegal pet trade. We also have a garter snake and a red-tailed hawk.

Olivia was eating pizza she got from a place in Davis Square. Harry got something from Starbucks, where he gives a different name each time.

So, on the subject of music, The Avocado had their retrospective of Homerpalooza and the consensus is that 1998 to 2002 was the dregs of the dregs for rock radio. I totally missed the garage revival, if that's what The Strokes and The White Stripes are. One of them talks about a radio station that dumped their new wave, shoegaze, goth, and britpop along with pretty much every woman artist and replaced it with mostly nu-metal most of the time with the occasional grunge flashback. It sounds a lot like WAAF, except I think WAAF dumped their women vocalists long before 1999 and I don't think they ever played shoegaze and that station had a late night weekend specialty show with electronic dance music.

The Mamas and the Pepes released a new album and the lyrics are every bit as terrible as I'd expect. It's not quite as bad as Larry Correia's parody of Bullet With Butterfly Wings because they at least try to keep meter and rhyme.
And it's not just the Mamas and the Pepes, there's a entire fucking collective of terrible red-pilled bands.

There's a clown skeleton downstairs hanging from the doorknob. and I was like "it's Skelly!" and Michael was like "it looks like what would happen if you burnt the evil Krusty doll." It does have green hair.

I learned that Hill Man is now on WEEI and they're playing music during the morning drive hours.
Burning Question: There are people out there who listen to WAAF for talk? Apparently so.
