65 days until the vernal equinox

God damn!
I was having such a nice dream, too. Well, it had Ashley and existential angst but I got over that with the thought that I’ve only been back for a week. I wish I could remember the song I was listening to, if it even existed. I thought it’d go well on a mix with The Sundays. See, I dunno, I think stores and even radio stations change up their playlists every so often. Unless it’s Christmas, but that’s because Christmas music has become a fixed canon of various hymns and carols, a bunch of 40s and 50s nostalgia, the occasional novelty song from the 1960s or even 1970s, and the most recent entry, All I Want For Christmas Is You from 1994. I said 1995 and when I looked it up on Wikipedia, I was half-expecting it to be from 1998 or later.
I don’t think there’s actually a word for feeling nostalgic over things that never really happened. Maybe in German or Yaghan, although the Yámana would probably say it in a metaphorical way.

So we're a quarter of the way through winter and we had one of those mid-December style warmups with a lot of wind. It reached 74 on Sunday and 70 on Saturday. I've heard the polar vortex will be back with a vengeance next week.

As for what I said about Iran, at least, that's how it would have went had they not fucked up and blew up a passenger plane. Instead they get more and bigger protests.

T.L. Knighton just released a new novel and it's a far sight better than After The Blast. Mind you, that is a really low bar. Let me put it this way. Much like most terrible self-published authors, Knighton has low ambition. When he wrote After The Blast, somehow his ambition still exceeded his talent level. The results are quite amazing in some sense of the world. With The Last Champion, his ambition is still low but he's improved his craft enough to make his writing a boring slog instead of a trainwreck that begins with "It started with a blinding flash, though I got lucky" and ends in the preview with "Extra ammo was deposited into the pack, which now felt like it weighed the same amount approximately as a small elephant" with everything in between just as awkwardly written.

Alex brought in some animals, including a pink Burmese python, a military macaw who is suppoedly 44 years old, a ferret named Stitch, an alligator snapper who doesn't have the reach of a regular snapper but does eventually get freakishly large. Once they were doing a demonstration with toucans, probably yellow-billed arucari, and they'd peck at red nailpolish.
Kristin brought in a Jackson's chameleon with triceratops horns.

It's just Sohela and Abby right now and soon it will just be Abby and maybe someone new who shows up.

Burning Question: Why in the nine hells did FOX see fit to air a repeat Bob's Burgers episode even when all the promos for the new one were posted and then actually air the new episode not only after a playoff football game that began at 6:40 PM and its overtime show, but after Fox News? This is going to be one of those lost episodes for most people, isn't it? Like A Tale Of Two Santas and Jurassic Bark. I think Route of All Evil was a lost episode as well. Or maybe it's just not a memorable episode. That also makes sense.

Come to think of it, I think I've only seen Sunday, Cruddy Sunday in syndication. Still, I don't think they learned their lesson from that episode.
