In Final Fantasy IV's Japanese version, you can summon these guys
They aren't really Cthulhus, I bet, since I seem to remember these guys having trouble doing anything to Rydia (1), let alone destroying the world and causing Kain to have a near death experience. In fact, I'm pretty sure mages in Final Fantasy IV are really just goblins in Cthulhu Halloween costumes with some sparklers.
Did you know that Tellah's stats go down?
I guess you could find out if Child Rydia could do better and possibly learn to meteor things (and by meteor things, I mean attempt to cast meteor but get killed by the goblin attacking her, but you do know what that means, right? Taping down the A button on a controller with a control stick taped to something that oscillates back and forth and running the game on turbo while you sleep. And you still have to make sure everyone isn't dead when you wake up, because 1 damage adds up eventually.
Also, another thing. If you BAHAMUT a Red Giant, it asplodes, and someone's getting hurt, most likely whomever summoned Bahamut. An exception could be made if you destroy two, in which case, someone else is getting hurt along with your sanity and your display if you used up your phoenix downs, and that someone happened to be Rosa. Now, is it possible to survive that? According to my calcualations, which were made several days after beating Zeromus and in the shower, a red giant has 14000 HP (this matches up with a monster guide). At level 53, Bahamut does around 4000 damage and hopefully-not-your-favorite (2) green haired video game character has 1700 HP, barely enough to survive Zeromus's big bang. Uh, is there any chart I can use?
(1) This is in part due to her lack of presence, busy hanging around friendly bombs and answering their questions about why they're not normal because they have fangs, despite monsters outnumbering humans by five grillion to one. Maybe nobody else has fangs there either.
(2) People who say otherwise have not played Wild Arms or Tales of Phantasia.
