the moon ascending
Aug. 11th, 2014 11:58 pmThe hummingbird was released. I don't know if this happened before, and not in the last few years. They'll have dogfight jousts over flowers; they're very territorial.
I wanted to tell Jessica about this: Drow thinks that Vox Day isn't wrong when he says those things straight out of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, she just thinks these things apply to other groups too.
Drow needs to rethink her worldview.
So I told Désireé instead.
And her criticism of Drow's art is that her portraits are very plain and unoriginal and look like generic anime and the sky looks like macaroni and cheese. You mustn't blame God for that.
And I told her that there are people out there that can't or won't accept art styles that aren't "anime" and "ultrarealistic" and it's cousin "romantic realism."
Or, in other words, we're much better artists.
Désireé has two cats: Pants, because she panted like a dog, and Vita, which means life. She's had other things in the past.
Nina ate something and she was having us guess what it was. It's kind of like a rat. It's not rabbit or squirrel or capybara. She doesn't know who would eat a capybara, but I do: the Catholic church even defined them as fish, because the conquistadores wanted to eat them during Lent. Nina's like "what the fuck?"
I'll try to find out next week.
Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately, depending on what your perspective is), I went directly into Boston from the Wildlife Center. Fortunately because I sketched a woman who was writing notes for a veterinary clinic internship and she was thinking about the Wildlife Center, and a woman who was listening to Common (which I know from Ocarina of Rhyme)
Unfortunately because and I'm trying to remember an entire day rather than five hours at the wildlife center, and that makes me feel like I'm missing something important.
A guy was playing the blues (guitar, his companion on bass) at Park Street Station (green line platform).
Dona Nobis Pacem is Ralph Vaughan Williams' ode to pacifism. It's very beautiful. I wish it was performed with a proper orchestra but it feels like these events were meant for people who maybe want to be a part of Chorus Pro Musica.
I don't know how long ago this was planned in advance, but it's definitely relevant now.
It's not our war, it's not our war.
A lot of people here want war, but it will be fought for the wrong side. I will not spend one cent for Assad's North Korea of the Middle East, for Russia or for Maliki. That's a burning question for the other time.
This is what I ate: larb kai. Ground chicken and ground rice in a hot and sour lime sauce with red onion, lemongrass, scallions.
There are fishtanks. One had three relatively normal actinopterygii. The other had a fish with a giant forehead (which is called a flowerhorn cichlid) and faux-Chinese logolalia, and my remark is "that is.. not… the weirdest fish I've ever seen." Seen in person? That would probably be a lionfish. Seen pictures of? The gulper eel for sure.
a woman says "central air is the worst thing that happened to society." It puts us in bubbles, basically. It also led to a migration to places without public transit.
She's in disbelief that Nixon was a Quaker (they're not quite as hardcore pacifists as Jains, who walk around with brooms to sweep insects out of their way so they don't step on them, wear masks so they don't accidentally swallow insects) and yet Vietnam, although she was raised fundamentalist Christian and ended up a liberal feminist.
Natalie Flanagan was singing outside of CVS in Copley Square.
I was in the wrong platform but someone was playing cello at Park Street (center red line platform). It is as I said: Boston is completely immersed in music.
Rachel (I figured there was only one name that started with rach-) said there are a lot of people named Emma. Two in her group. I'm not sure if I did either of them. I know there's a Sam and an Emily (I don't know if there's a Lauren to pair with Rachel). I know I drew someone named Leanne (I'll remember that), and a few asked for portraits.
She tried to draw me. She says she's not a good artist. Just keep taking classes, I guess, keep practicing.
I told her that the pen forces you to not make mistakes and the fact that you're on the T forces you to draw people lest they get off while you've only drawn an eye.
I told them I was sorry I wasn't able to get everyone's portrait.
burning question: how did someone just walk out of the wildlife center with a centrifuge?
